Sing to Jehovah - HTML Player Program for the Piano Accompaniment and Vocal Renditions
LAST UPDATED: 11 AUGUST 2011 (to add links to the vocal renditions of the songs)
This program is especially designed for Jehovah's Witnesses and is freely offered
as a front-end browser-based application to enable convenient playing of the audio
MP3 files for the piano accompaniment and vocals for the new songbook Sing to Jehovah
(c)2009 in English. The MP3 music files are not included, but are available for
downloading separately from jw.org. This application works only with the English-
language MP3 files.
To use this application, download the zipped file "sing.zip," unzip it, and save
all the unzipped files --"sing.html" plus all other files including the playlist
files [m3u] -- in the same folder where you have already saved the MP3 piano music
files (135 total songs) and the JPEG file (iasn_E.jpg) downloaded from jw.org.
To view the lyrics and play the songs, open the "sing.html" file in your browser.
You can name this main folder anything you like. (I named mine "Sing".)
The vocal renditions of volumes 1 to 4 can also be downloaded from jw.org. To be
able to play them when using this "sing.html" file, they *must* be saved in the
following manner:
Make four subfolders in the main folder (the one named "Sing" or whatever you named
your folder) where your piano music mp3 files are saved. These new subfolders *must*
each be named exactly as follows (no capitalization, no internal spaces, no hyphens):
vol1 vol2 vol3 vol4
Download and unzip the vocal renditions of the songs (volumes 1 to 4) from jw.org.
Save all MP3 files for volume 1 in the subfolder "vol1", all MP3 files for volume 2
in the subfolder "vol2", and continue to do the same for volumes 3 and 4.
Your file system will be similar to the following:
["Sing" or other name: Main folder where your piano music is saved.]
sing.html <-- This is the file to look for and load into your
browser. (It will probably be near the end of the
files in the folder.)
iasn_E_001.mp3 <-- These are the 135 MP3 files for the piano music
iasn_E_002.mp3
. . . etc.
iasn_E_134.mp3
iasn_E_135.mp3
iasn_E_jpg <-- This is a picture file downloaded from jw.org
vol1 <-- You have to make this subfolder yourself
iasnv1_E_001.mp3 <-- These are the vocal downloads for volume 1
iasnv1_E_002.mp3
. . . etc
vol2 <-- You have to make this subfolder yourself
iasnv2_E-01.mp3 <-- These are the vocal downloads for volume 2
iasnv2_E_02.mp3
. . . etc.
vol3
. . . etc.
vol4
. . . etc.
Other files are included in the zip download, such as .m3u (playlist) files,
and two favicon files. Be sure to put *all* these downloaded and upzipped files
into the main "Sing" folder.
NOTE: All MP3 and JPG files are downloaded from jw.org.
All other files (.html, .m3u, .ico., .png, and $ReadMe.txt) are separate
files associated with this "sing.html" player file, and are not endorsed in
any way by jw.org.
NOTE: The earlier downloads for the MP3 vocals for volume 1 were numbered differently
from what they are now. Either rename the file names on your computer or download them
again from jw.org and replace the old mp3 files with the new ones. This file works
only with the later numbering system. (The older files names were named by the song
numbers; the newer file names -- volume 1 only -- are numbered by the track number
with three numerals: 001, 002, 003 etc.)
"sing.html" has been tested in the following browsers: (Google) Chrome, Firefox,
Internet Explorer (IE), Opera, Safari, and SeaMonkey.
Some MP3 players (such as JetAudio and iTunes) will display the lyrics of a song
while it is playing. The default MP3 player is set up in your browser's Preferences.
It is *not* controlled by this "sing.html" program. For instructions on how to set
the default MP3 player in your browser, try an Internet search using these words:
set default mp3 player.
TO USE this player program in your browser, do the following:
* First, Load "sing.html". (Be sure to bookmark it so you can come back to it easily.)
* To play the piano accompaniment for any one song, navigate to the song you want
and click on the song title; it will play in the default MP3 player set in your
browser.
* Mouse-hover above the cited scripture beneath each song title to display the full
text of the scripture upon which the song is based.
* Mouse-hover above the "See also" scriptures below the lyrics to display the other
cited scriptures. Scriptures are taken from the New World Translation of the Holy
Scriptures, which is also available for reading online at watchtower.org or for
downloading in audio or digital format (PDF and EPUB) from jw.org.
* Click any playlist listed at the top of the page to play a group of songs, either
piano or vocals. (Playing times usually show in a mouse hover.)
* Also included is an index to first lines (including first lines of the choruses),
an index to all scriptures, and an index to titles.
